What is a
functional
analysis?

1.        What purpose identified target behavior(s) serves for a child.
2.        What aspects in a child’s environment are reinforcing or maintaining this
behavior.
3.        What skill deficits does the child have that contribute to the behavior?
4.        What motivational deficits does the child have that contribute to the behavior?

•        Once it is understood why a child is engaging in maladaptive behavior,
alternative
replacement behaviors
can be identified that will be more efficient and appropriate
in their
social adaptation for a child.  These will be outlined in a formal behavior
intervention plan
.
